The Rev. Canon W. Bruce McPherson

Former Director of Liturgy and Worship

The Rev. W. Bruce McPherson was appointed the Cathedral’s Interim
Director of Liturgy and Worship in October 2003. McPherson will serve at
least until the appointment of a new Cathedral Dean. A specialist in interim
ministries and conflict resolution, McPherson previously served as interim
rector of Saint Stephen’s Church in Crownsville, Maryland. Other
recent assignments have included serving as interim rector at Saint
Peter’s Church in Arlington, Virginia; the Church of the Good Shepherd
in Baltimore; and All Saints Church in Sunderland, Maryland. He has also
served at the Church of the Nativity in Baltimore and Saint George’s
Church in Manchester, Maryland.

McPherson came to the priesthood after a distinguished career in banking
and business consulting. While with Mason-Dixon Bancshares in the late 1990s
he was Executive Vice President responsible for commercial lending after
serving for a number of years with MNC Financial/Bank of America as
Executive Vice President for Real Estate Lending. He currently serves as
chair of the Episcopal Housing Corporation and is past chair of the
Compensation and Benefits Commission of the Episcopal Diocese of
Maryland.

McPherson is a graduate of Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, and
holds an MBA from Loyola College in Baltimore, Maryland. He graduated from
the General Theological Seminary in New York in 1991 and was ordained to the
priesthood in January 1993.
