Brett Gibson is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of NextGen Venture Partners, a DC-based venture capital firm that invests in emerging technology companies. As Managing Partner of NextGen, Brett has overseen investments in over 40 companies nationwide and was named a “Tech Titan” by Washingtonian magazine.

In 2018, NextGen was acquired by Brown Advisory, a global asset management firm, where Brett was asked to become the head of the Washington office. In this role, Brett is responsible for overseeing investment teams that manage endowments locally for Catholic Charities, the Vatican, the Wolf Trap Foundation, Landon School, and others.

Prior to starting this, Brett was at the DC-based startup, LivingSocial, and the Carlyle Group. Brett has served for 18-years in the Army National Guard, where he is currently a lieutenant colonel and the commander of 1-183d Infantry Battalion, a unit that trains the next generation of soldiers. Brett has served in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Kuwait and is qualified as an Army Ranger.

Brett is a graduate of Harvard Business School and the University of Virginia. He is a member of the Young President’s Organization (YPO) and on the Pastoral Advisory Committee at Holy Trinity Church in McLean, Va.
