Geoff Carlson joined the Cathedral first as a recruiting consultant, then as Interim Director of Human Resources in November 2022, and coming onboard permanently as the Cathedral’s first-ever Director of Human Resources in September 2023.

Geoff is responsible for all Human Resources processes and initiatives for the Cathedral, including DEIB standards and initiatives; recruitment and retention; training, performance review, and professional development; updating and digitization of Human Resources processes; and partnering to grow a culture of Welcoming and Inclusivity at the Cathedral.

Geoff was a former professional actor before finding his passion in People work. Geoff has helped develop and grow Human Resources systems and cultures for various organizations, ranging from a small national retail business, a large multi-national cooperative, and as a People Leader for Apple. He started his Human Resources consulting firm in 2018, focusing on equity and inclusion in recruitment for small- to medium-sized mission-oriented organizations.

Geoff is a preacher’s kid from Omaha, Neb., and received a Bachelor’s degree in communications from Grace University. He has received DEI and HR operational certificates from Cornell University and his PHR certification in 2018 from HRCI.
