The Rev. Canon Barbara T. Duncan, D.Min.

Former Missioner of Washington National Cathedral

The Rev. Canon Barbara T. Duncan, formerly director of pastoral
ministries of the Cathedral, was appointed the Cathedral’s missioner
in April 2000. Canon Duncan continues in her capacity as acting coordinator
of pastoral ministries in addition to her new responsibilities. Canon Duncan
brings a wealth of experience in mission and outreach work, most notably as
coordinator of criminal justice ministries for the Diocese of Pennsylvania,
the position she held prior to her coming to Washington National Cathedral
in 1998. Previously, she served as associate rector at St. Columba’s
Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C., associate for youth education at
Christ Church in Greenville, Delaware, interim rector of St. Matthew’s
and canon missioner of Cathedral Church of St. John in Wilmington, Delaware
and as chaplain of the Women’s Correctional Institution in
Delaware.

Canon Duncan holds a B.S. degree in Music Education from Virginia State
College, a Masters degree in Music Education from West Chester University
(Pennsylvania), a Master of Divinity degree from Lancaster Theological
Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry from the Graduate Theological
Foundation.
