Ruth Frey joined Washington National Cathedral in 2013, where she works with the dean and other senior staff to direct the Cathedral’s public education programs.
Prior to accepting this position, Frey was director of continuing education at Seabury Western Theological Seminary in Chicago. An experienced church leader, she is a faculty member for CREDO, an Episcopal wellness program, and a member of the Episcopal Church’s Taskforce on Small Congregations. She recently served on the Episcopal Church Standing Commission for Lifelong Christian Formation and Education and as a mentor for the Education for Ministry program of the School of the Theology at the University of the South. She is on the steering committee for the Chicago Consultation, a group that convenes Episcopalians and Anglicans who support the full inclusion of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender Christians in the Episcopal Church and the worldwide Anglican Communion.
She holds a bachelor’s degree from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, N.Y., and a master of divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C.
