John D. Barker

Mr. Barker has launched his own finance firm dealing with international insurance after leaving the Carlyle Group, where he served as a principal. He had joined the Group in 2002 and sought investments in specialty finance, specialty insurance, transaction processing, and special situations involving financial services companies.

Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Barker was CFO of DigiPlex, a leading supplier of co-location space in Europe. He also served as COO of OpenWebs, a leading supplier of peer-to-peer Internet trading software. Earlier in his career, Mr. Barker was a partner with McKinsey & Co., Inc.

Mr. Barker received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar. He received a B.S.M.E., summa cum laude, from Duke University, where he was a member of Tau Beta Pi and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. With his wife Laura, Mr. Barker is a member of the Cathedral congregation. Their daughters are graduates of National Cathedral School.
