Vance Wilson is the seventh headmaster in St. Albans School‘s 102-year history. Born in North Carolina and raised in Tampa, Florida, he attended Berkeley Preparatory School and earned his B.A. in English from Yale. He went on to earn a diploma in Anglo-Irish literature from Trinity College, University of Dublin, and a master‘s degree from the University of Virginia.
Canon Wilson has worked as a teacher and administrator at the Asheville School in Asheville, North Carolina, the Tower Hill School in Wilmington, Delaware, and most recently, the Bryn Mawr School in Baltimore, where he was the associate head. He currently serves as president of the International Boys Schools Coalition.
He has also co-authored two books on curriculum issues and an account of integration in Southern private schools. In 1986, Canon Wilson published a novel, The Quick on the Dead.
