Canon Stephen Oliver

Canon Stephen Oliver, A.K.C., is the precentor of St. Pauls Cathedral, London. He is the bishop designate of Stephney and will be consecrated in St. Pauls Cathedral on May 8, 2003.
For fifteen years he was a parish priest in Nottingham, England, before taking up a post with the BBC as a religious programmes producer. He became senior producer in 1984 and was made chief producer in 1989. He produced many documentary programmes from around the world and worked in both radio and television.
Canon Oliver has been at St. Pauls Cathedral for six years. He has been responsible for many national and international services including the Queens Jubilee National Service and a service for the American community in Britain following the 9/11 attacks; that service filled St. Pauls Cathedral to capacity with eight thousand people standing outside.
He is married to Hilary, a senior nurse, and they have two grown-up sons.
