Honest to God: Bishop Yvette Flunder

Sunday, June 20, 2021 | 2:00pm

Guest preacher Bishop Yvette Flunder and Dean Randy Hollerith hold an Honest to God conversation on Bishop Flunder’s life and leadership. They will be joined by the Rev. Dr. Kelly Brown Douglas, Canon Theologian at Washington National Cathedral, and Michael Vazquez, Director of the Religion and Faith Program at HRC, to reflect on LGBTQIA leadership and the church during Pride month. Featured in The Black Church (Episode 2), the Rev. Dr. Flunder is a writer, award-winning gospel musician, and same-gender loving woman. In 1991 she founded the City of Refuge United Church of Christ to unite a gospel ministry with a social ministry.  Since 2003, she has been Presiding Bishop of The Fellowship of Affirming Ministries, a fellowship of worshipping communities moving toward a theology of radical inclusivity.
