As a house of prayer for all people, the Cathedral is excited to welcome guest musicians to share their talents with Cathedral visitors. Learn more below about regular opportunities for visiting musicians to appear in Cathedral services and events.

Midday Music Series

Resuming Fall 2024

Due to the Organ Restoration Project, the Midday Music program is on hold until fall of 2024. We will begin accepting applications again on August 1, 2024.

On select weekdays from 12:45–1:15 pm, visiting musicians share their gifts in performances in the Cathedral’s Great Choir. Types of performances include:

  • Organ demonstrations presented by Cathedral Organists Thomas Sheehan or recitals from visiting organists
  • Performances from select visiting choirs and contemporary musicians

We welcome all forms of musical expression during our Midday Music series. Whether you’d like to showcase the vibrant traditions of Caribbean or Latino cultures, soulful Gospel and Spirituals, dynamic jazz ensembles, or anything in between, we’d love to hear from you.

Please note, these performances do not require ticketing beyond general sightseeing admission. Tourists are encouraged to enjoy these performances as a special addition to their exploration of the Cathedral.

Choral Services

Choirs proficient in the Episcopal tradition may also request to perform for Sunday Choral Evensong during June and July.

How to Apply

Due to the Organ Restoration Project, we are currently not accepting guest musicians for Midday Music. Interested musicians may apply starting August 1, 2024. Thank you for your patience!

Interested choir directors interested in performing during a Choral Evensong, please contact the Cathedral Music Department.

For individuals or organizations looking to present a concert outside of this scope, please contact the Guest and Event Management Department.
