Building our Cathedral Congregation Life Together II

Sunday, June 11, 2017 | 12:45pm

Building on our February 12 Congregation meeting, we gather for fellowship and to plan for the arrival of our new vicar, the Rev. Dana Colley Corsello. See the April 2017 newsletter for the announcement. Her first day is July 10.

Vicar Welcome

Members of the Cathedral Congregation Committee (CCC) will share steps being taken with the dean to lay a foundation for our congregation welcome. One small task force is preparing a Briefing Book and a calendar overview for 2017-2018 of “top level” upcoming congregation events (Cathedral Day Birthday Party, Thanksgiving Baskets, Advent Giving, etc.). Leaders from our various ministries—Outreach and Social Justice, Pastoral Care, Hospitality, Christian Formation, 20s&30s Group, Cathedral Scholars, Community Life, and Stewardship—are preparing the contents. Another small task force is taking the lead on brainstorming hospitality. The team is developing a broad outline of small welcome gatherings to take place over the next 6 months.

How can each member help? A few suggestions…

  • Attend the meeting! Contribute ideas and offer to be involved in some aspect of our welcome.
  • Host or attend a small get-to-know gathering.
  • Volunteer for one of our ongoing ministries to help build up the strength of each ministry. See the May newsletter on Caritate Dei. Ministry needs will be posted along with sign ups. Show commitment to the congregation by adding to the life of a ministry.

Mark your calendars now to join us for lively and fruitful conversation at our potluck reception and meeting. Finger fare suggestions for our potluck reception: mini quiches; fresh fruit platter; cheese platter; raw vegetable platter with dip; meatballs; tea sandwiches; shrimp cocktail; deli meat platter; cookies/brownies. If you are able to help with set-up or clean up, please contact Christine Bingaman: [email protected]
