Dr. Rogstad was born in Winchendon, Mass., and received his Batchelor of Arts in History from Clark University and his Ph.D. in Economics from Brown University.  His Washington-based professional career included serving as President of the American Business Conference and Chief Economist, Managing Partner of International Consulting and Strategic Management Services at Coopers & Lybrand. He was a board member of Baldor Electric Company (NYSE).

Dr. Rogstad currently is a member of the Board of Trustees of Johns Hopkins Medicine and the Board of the Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality.  His previous community activities include serving as board chair of Suburban Hospital, Clark University and the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Board of Overseers. He was also finance committee chair and treasurer of Strathmore Hall Foundation. 

Dr. Rogstad is married to Lorraine Rogstad who is a captain on the Cathedral Flower Guild. He has served as a member of the Development Committee of the Chapter.  Barry and Lorraine are members of the Cathedral congregation and have a son and a daughter and five grandchildren.
