On-Call Videographer

Washington National Cathedral is seeking an On-Call Videographer. This position is responsible for assisting the Director of Video Productions in the operations and maintenance of all video projects and visual systems. The ideal candidate should have strong video experience with various professional production equipment including cameras, video switchers, and editing programs. In addition, the applicant should have the ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast paced and high stress environment. This position will generally work 3-4-hour shifts and will be scheduled on-call.
This dynamic position will work closely with the Director of Video Productions and Services, the Video Engineer, and the Senior Manager of Events and Productions to assist in executing all Visual/Audio experiences for the Cathedral. This position will operate in all areas of the Cathedral, including but not limited to the Nave of the Cathedral, Perry Auditorium, Cathedral Chapels, Virginia Mae Center, and other locations where Visual/Audio equipment may be required. Programs using Visual/ Audio equipment include concerts, lectures, programs, and outdoor events.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and execute in collaboration with the Director of Video Productions and the Video Engineer to meet video requirements for all services, events, and programs.
- Create high quality multimedia materials for use in videos, websites, live streaming broadcasts, podcasts, closed-circuit television projects and other media to reach internal and external audiences.
- Responsible for the functioning of cameras and TV screens prior to production.
- Assist in set up and strike of video/audio equipment.
- Strive to maintain the highest standards of all Cathedral productions.
- The ability to work cooperatively as part of a team and with people of varying levels of expertise is required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 3 years of professional experience in video production.
- Must have knowledge of state-of-the-art professional video and audio equipment.
- Working knowledge of both Macintosh and PC’s.
- Works well as part of a team and with people of varying levels of expertise.
- Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, able to work independently, resolve problems and meet evolving deadlines.
- Must possess excellent organizational, planning, and communication skills.
- Must be punctual and reliable in an environment where productions are live streamed.
- Must be able to move quickly to meet production needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in post-production, and video/audio editing.
- Experience with digital editing systems and lighting techniques.
- Proven experience in video/audio live webcasting, streaming media, and other integrated technologies.
- Ability to interact with clergy, faculty, staff, visitors, and administrators courteously, and professionally.
Working Conditions
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 pounds consistently.
- Must be able to walk backwards while operating professional video equipment for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to stand on shooting platforms for several hours while filming without fatigue.
- Must be willing and able to work comfortably inside and outside on high scaffolding, tall ladders, catwalks, and at times in low light environments.

Hourly rate: Commensurate to market value and experience, starting at $35 per hour.
