Working closely with the Director of Marketing, while supervising the Marketing Coordinator, the Marketing Manager supports the development and implementation of marketing plans and strategies. The Marketing Manager serves as the linchpin of Monday.com, the project management system used by the Cathedral’s fast-paced Marketing and Communications Department.

This new full-time role is an expansion of the Cathedral’s successful MarCom team. The position is focused on engaging the MarCom team and outside departments to allow for more efficient and effective marketing operations. The Marketing Manager role has incredible breadth, offering the opportunity to position products across the Cathedral’s strategic priorities including worship, visitor, digital engagement, music and special programs. The day-to-day activities for this position include creative processes such as copywriting and editing, as well as analytical tasks such as reporting.

The ideal candidate for this role will be highly organized – comfortable managing often competing priorities, and an excellent communicator.

Duties and Responsibilities

Marketing Strategy

  • In conjunction with the Director of Marketing, the Marketing Manager will execute and support multichannel campaigns across the Cathedral’s diverse offerings.
    • Help implement marketing plans for multichannel campaigns
    • Identify the effectiveness and impact of marketing and communications strategies

Project Management

  • The Marketing Manager serves as the gatekeeper for Monday.com (the MarCom team’s project management system), charged with determining priorities within the project pipeline, reviewing incoming project requests for completion, and reviewing completed projects for accuracy.
    • Work collaboratively between outside departments (such as Worship, Development and Revenue) and the MarCom team to ensure that projects are completed on time, at department standards, while fostering collaboration
    • Responsible for the strategy behind the MarCom team’s dedicated schedules (such as email calendar, social and photography)
    • Serves as a critical partner and primary communicator to internal stakeholders, communicates feedback will empowering team members to solve problems
    • Schedules and manages kick off meetings, documents project needs and communicates edits
    • Oversees file storage and organization for the MarCom team

Content Strategy and Brand Management

  • In conjunction with the Director of Marketing and the Director of Digital Engagement, the Marketing Manager manages the editorial calendar, optimizing timing and insuring the cohesiveness of messages across the Cathedral’s owned channels (website, email, social media, and app).
    • Serves as the department’s primary copywriter and editor
    • Develops, tests and optimizes messaging
    • Responsible for the brand voice, accuracy and results of emails campaigns
    • Provides social media strategy and supervises the Marketing Coordinator’s content creation

Marketing and Community Outreach

  • Lead the Marketing and Communications team’s community outreach initiatives, identifying and overseeing outreach to community partners, including researching organizations, making phone calls, distributing materials, sending emails, etc.
  • Support the Director of Marketing in paid advertising campaigns

Perform other duties as assigned.

minimum qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications or other related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in project management in communications and/or marketing
  • Ability to plan and anticipate needs
  • Experience with project management systems like Basecamp, Monday.com, Asana, etc.
  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms
  • Superior ability to write marketing copy; edit marketing materials with attention to detail
preferred experience
  • Marketing agency, association and/ or nonprofit experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with social media management software
  • Experience with project management software
  • Comfort working on multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated skills in writing, editing, and proofreading
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • This position requires work during regular business hours. At times, some work on weekends and outside of regular business hours may be required.
  • This position is eligible for a hybrid model of work, requiring at least 3 days/week in the office.
  • The position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending and stooping in the performance of daily activities.
  • The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in preparing reports using a computer keyboard.
  • The position also requires near and far vision for reading and preparing written reports and other required documents.
  • Acute hearing is also required when providing phone assistance.
  • The need to lift, drag, push and pull files, reports and other materials weighing up to 25 pounds is also required.
