Congregation Dinner: Bringing Ben Home

Special Guest Speaker Barbara Bradley Hagerty will talk about her faith journey and her most recent book Bringing Ben Home, which tells the story of Ben Spencer, a Black man wrongly convicted and sentenced to life for robbing and killing a white man in Dallas in 1987 before being freed after 34 years. In large part because of Barb’s reporting, Ben Spencer was exonerated on August 29, 2024. Barb is a New York Times bestselling author and contributing writer for The Atlantic; she worked for NPR for nearly 20 years, covering criminal justice and religion. Attendees are asked to, if able, please read her book in advance and donate a bottle of wine.
