Remembering September 11th, 20 Years Later
On Sunday, September 12, join Washington National Cathedral as we mark the 20th anniversary of the attacks on September 11, 2001. We remember the lives lost, give thanksgiving for those who serve, and look towards a future with peace.
With the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, The District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services, and area fire departments, the Cathedral will display the images of the 343 FDNY firefighters killed on September 11, 2001. Exhibited on the West Lawn and Walker Court in front of the Cathedral, the photos will be a temporary memorial to those firefighters and the many others who were lost due to the September 11th attacks. An American flag will be hung between two DC fire engines parked adjacent to the Cathedral.
