Only one other Cathedral in the world is known to have a dedicated chapel set aside for children. At the Cathedral, Children’s Chapel is designed for an average 6-year-old, given by parents who lost their 6-year-old son.

A small statue of a child Jesus greets visitors at the chapel’s entrance. Inside, the fan vaulting of the ceiling is deliberately lowered to give young worshippers a closer view. The reredos, baptismal font, altar, pint-sized chair and even the mini pipe organ are scaled to children’s size.

The chapel’s stained glass windows tell the story of Samuel and David as young boys, and the gilt reredos behind the altar depicts the young Jesus confounding the elders in the Temple.. The needlepoint kneelers depict baby animals of all kinds, including a parade of creatures entering Noah’s Ark, two by two.
