Unexampled Courage with Author Richard Gergel

The Congregation Racial Justice Task Force will hold a conversation with author Richard Gergel on his book Unexampled Courage: The Blinding of Sgt. Isaac Woodard and the Awakening of President Harry S. Truman and Judge J. Waties Waring.



Brenda Baldwin-White, Senior Judicial Education Attorney, Federal Judicial Center will facilitate. Henry Louise Gates, Jr. praised Gergel’s work stating: “Unexampled Courage, set in the Jim Crow South after World War II, recovers a pivotal moment in American’s civil rights movement. This remarkable story reminds us of the enduring power of the rule of law, even under the most daunting circumstances where men and women stand for justice.”
