Accept, O Lord, our thanks and praise for all that you have done for us. Help us to share our abundance with our neighbors and love them as we love ourselves.
Our Thanksgiving collection drive is underway! Challenged by Presiding Bishop Michael Curry to think generously and big, we have set a goal of 500 Thanksgiving baskets and 500 frozen turkeys. Help us meet and exceed our target!
We are closing in on our goal. Please help us make our goal of 500 baskets.
The congregation is again partnering with Covenant Baptist Church/UCC in our annual effort to provide Thanksgiving dinners for families in need in Wards 7 and 8. As in years past, members and friends will put together “baskets” with the non-perishable Thanksgiving dinner items (see below).
The Poor Roberts Foundation is generously contributing 200 frozen turkeys again this year. The Cathedral community and friends are making up the difference through cash and check donations to purchase additional turkeys. Thank you, if you have already contributed to the turkey fund.
Different this year: We will be receiving baskets only on Sunday November 20.
Please consider donating the contents of one or more “baskets” and, if you are able, provide cash donations—checks or currency— to purchase several hundred additional turkeys. The turkeys will be purchased and delivered on November 22 to Covenant Baptist/UCC.
Drop-off for the Thanksgiving Baskets is Sunday, November 20, 8:30–11:30 am, along South Road at the west end of the Cathedral.
Drivers for the Sunday, November 20 delivery of our baskets, and the Tuesday, November 22 pick up and delivery of the turkeys are needed. Please sign up to help on Sundays or via email.
Suggested non-perishable items for each basket
- 2 cans beans
- 2 cans corn
- 2 cans sweet potatoes or candied yams
- 2 cans cranberry sauce
- 2 Boxes of instant mashed potatoes
- 2 Boxes of stuffing mix

Please deliver all items in re-usable shopping bags with handles. Many of the recipients are elderly, have a long walk home, or take multiple buses.
Please confirm that you will be contributing 1 or more baskets by emailing [email protected]. Include your full name, telephone number, number of baskets and if you are able to help deliver the baskets to Covenant Baptist Church/UCC on Sunday, November 20 or the turkeys on November 22.
