Drum together to celebrate the first day of spring!
Join us as we assemble DC’s largest indoor drum circle on the Spring Equinox, as we say goodbye to the winter darkness and herald the arrival of spring and new life.
Led by Katy Gaughan, Drumming for Wellness. No experience necessary. Drums provided or bring your own. All are welcome to listen, dance, walk the labyrinth, and make a joyful noise!
UPDATE: TUESDAY MARCH 20
It looks like the weather will be grumpy but not dangerous, so if you can get to the Cathedral, we'll be here. Please make your own safety your first priority. We'll be here if you want to come (and we hope you do!). If we determine that the weather becomes so dangerous we need to cancel, we will post notices here and on the event's Facebook page.
Doors will open at 6:30pm. You'll be warmly welcomed by Cathedral volunteers, and Drumming for Wellness volunteers will match you with a seat and an instrument. You're also welcome to bring your own instrument.
$5 donation per person requested. Funds go to cover the event costs, including payment to Drumming for Wellness, and to hold future similar events at the Cathedral. Thank you to everyone who paid online (sorry it was confusing!). We'll be taking cash/check donations at the door.
Transportation. Directions and parking information can be found here on the Cathedral website. Bus works great; we're not convenient to the metro, there is some (free) surface parking onsite, and the garage fee is a flat $7 for entry after 4pm.
Entry at the Cathedral. The BIG FRONT DOORS facing Wisconsin Ave will be open at 6pm for you early arrivals. We'll hold a line in the entry area until 6:30pm, at which time we'll be ready and open the doors into the church proper.
Map. You can find a map of the Cathedral grounds and entrances here.
