Outreach and Social Justice in the Spotlight

Sunday, October 16, 2016 | 10:00am

“Christ has no body now but yours, No hands, no feet on earth but yours.”
—St. Teresa of Avila

Join us at coffee hour to explore opportunities to serve through our outreach ministries and advocacy groups. Volunteers with a range of talents and time availability are needed. Ministry coordinators and members of our lay-led Outreach and Social Justice Committee (OSJ) will be on hand. Chat with fellow volunteers. Pick up a brochure or ministry flyers. Sign up to help with one of our upcoming ministry events and drives. For more background on our ministries see our webpage.

Our outreach ministries work with local organizations to provide food, clothing, seasonal gifts, and administrative support. We contribute sandwiches and fruit for Martha’s Table and knit and crochet for Bright Beginnings. Our congregation and friends walk for Friendship Place to help end homelessness on November 5. Then we turn to providing hundreds of Thanksgiving meals for area families and gifts for children and families in partnership with our local partners during Advent. We also donate warm winter clothing for our local partners in December. Our advocacy groups tie into local, national, and international initiatives. Join the congregation in the community. There are many ways to help!

Coffee hour is held after the 9 am and 11:15 am services. Look for the purple congregation banner at the west end of the nave.
