One of Franz Joseph Haydn’s greatest works is the set on sonatas collectively known as the “Seven Last Words of Christ.” The composer’s aim was to make this work accessible to everybody, regardless of their musical or religious background: “Each sonata, or movement, is expressed in such a way that even the most uninitiated listener will be moved to the very depths of his soul.”
Presented on the eve of Lent by Cathedra and the Diderot String Quartet, the “Seven Last Word of Christ” can be heard in the intimate and powerful surroundings of the Cathedral’s Great Choir.
