Join Washington National Cathedral as we Pack the Truck! for our next food drive on June 10 and 11. Atmosphere Lighting is lending us their 26’ truck, and we plan to fill the whole thing! Help us reach this goal by dropping-off non-perishables and baby items June 10 and 11 from 11 am—5 pm in the Cathedral bus garage.
We’re partnering with the Capital Area Food Bank and the Emergency Child Care Initiative to distribute collected items. Capital Area Food Bank is creating access to good, healthy, food in communities across the DC region. Most wanted items include: canned or dried beans, peanut butter, low sodium canned vegetables, grains, hot and cold cereal, canned fish or chicken, healthy snacks like granola bars, canned fruit, and 100% juice. The Emergency Child Care Initiative provides child care for first responders and other essential government and health care workers employed in the District of Columbia. Items needed are baby food, formula, diapers, wipes, and the like.
Our Pack the Truck! food drive is part of our continued community outreach during the COVID-19 shutdown. As part of this outreach, the Red Cross will be at the Cathedral hosting a blood drive on June 10 and 11. All open spots for the blood drive are full.
