In the period between World War I and World War II, England experienced a musical resurgence that had not been seen since the time of Henry Purcell 200 years earlier. Tonight’s program, presented by the combined forces of The Bach Choir, London, and Yale Philharmonia and the Yale Schola Cantorum, pays homage to that golden age of English music. Esteemed conductor David Hill highlights composers including Vaughan Williams, Charles Villiers Stanford and Arnold Bax, culminating in William Walton’s masterpiece, “Belshazzar’s Feast.”
