Cathedral Day Picnic

Sunday, September 24, 2017 | 1:00pm

Join the party after the 11:15 am service on Sunday, September 24. Our picnic venue is the beautifully restored amphitheater along Pilgrim Road. It is an easy stroll. Transportation will be provided from Walker Court (front of the Cathedral) for those with mobility concerns. The festivities will include music provided by our Cathedral Band and BBQ by Old Dominion Barbecue & Bacon Company. There also will be veggie burgers, beverages and birthday cake to celebrate our Cathedral’s 110th birthday!

Win a chance to have lunch with our Vicar, two tickets to a Cathedral concert of your choice or a gift certificate to Silver Diner!

Picnickers are welcome to bring a salad—serving size for at least 8. In consideration of our friends who have food allergies, please label any foods that contain allergens such as tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soy or dairy.

Some of you will recognize our pitmaster Karl Hempel, long-time member of the Cathedral Men’s Choir and Cathedral Singers. There will be games for the children and door prizes—including lunch with the vicar! You are welcome to bring a blanket or cushion. “Casual Sunday” attire suggested. Tickets will go on sale through the Box Office on August 25 and at Sunday coffee hours on September 3.

Volunteers are needed for help with ticket sales, set-up and clean-up. Sign-up to help and to provide a salad when you register online or at coffee hours. Tickets: $10 for individuals; $30 for families.

This is a rain or shine event. Our indoor location is Bethlehem Chapel...turned into a bistro for the day.
