Lives, Legends and Landscapes:
A Pilgrimage to Northern Wales
Dates: July 21–30, 2025
Sponsored by: Washington National Cathedral • Cathedral Center for Prayer and Pilgrimage
Led by: Dr. Terri Lynn Simpson
The roots of the church in Wales were planted in the sacred soil of a Celtic community formed by inspiring landscapes, ancient legends, and dedicated people of faith. Tap into this rich, but often overlooked tradition, with a journey to northern Wales.
Walk enduring pilgrimage paths, connecting with the heart of Celtic spirituality. Pray in churches and cathedrals where thanksgiving and petition have been expressed for centuries, joining your voice with the timeless chorus of saints. Worship in rolling green hills or on rocky gray beaches, uniting your praise with that of all creation. Join us as we travel to northern Wales, seeking to deepen our spiritual roots in the sacred sites and contemplative practices that are our legacy from this branch of Celtic spirituality.

About the Leader
Dr. Terri Lynn Simpson is a poet, retreat leader, and the coordinator for the Center for Prayer and Pilgrimage at Washington National Cathedral. Celtic spirituality is her path, writing is her practice, and inviting people into thin places where they may share their stories and experience the presence of the Holy is her work. In addition to having a graduate degree in theology and a doctorate in Spirituality and Story, Terri is a long-time student of Celtic spirituality. Grounded in the three-fold practices of prayer, pilgrimage, and poetry, she weaves strands of these Celtic influences into the retreats, pilgrimages, and workshops she leads.
