Washington National Cathedral welcomes Washington Hebrew Congregation, the USC Shoah Foundation, and Hold On To Your Music Foundation as they host the internationally acclaimed theatrical show — “The Children of Willesden Lane.”

The one-woman theatrical performance features concert pianist Mona Golabek and is adapted from her best-selling book of the same name. The Grammy-nominated artist uses music to tell her mother’s inspiring story of survival as a teenage Austrian Jewish refugee who pursued her own dream of becoming a pianist. The Los Angeles Times calls the performance “a triumph.”

This event will be free and open to the public. No registration is required. Free copies of The Children of Willesden Lane will be distributed to the first 300 attendees.

The performance will be followed by a panel conversation featuring:

  • Dr. Akbar Ahmed, Ibn Khaldun Chair of Islamic Studies, American University
  • Mona Golabek, Concert Pianist and Author, The Children of Willesden Lane
  • The Very Reverend Randolph Marshall Hollerith, Dean of Washington National Cathedral
  • Rabbi Bruce Lustig, Rabbi Emeritus, Washington Hebrew Congregation
  • Rabbi Susan Shankman, Senior Rabbi, Washington Hebrew Congregation
