For the Healing of the Nation: Understanding Moral Injury in the Wake of the Pandemic (Online Conference)
This day-long conference, held on Zoom and convened by the Cathedral and the Shay Moral Injury Center, focuses on the moral injury that many are suffering due to the pandemic. Military veterans, healthcare workers, social workers, government officials, incarcerated people, chaplains, journalists, and people in social movements are all at risk for moral injury.
RADM Margaret Kibben, USN ret., Chaplain of the US House of Representatives and Chair of the Cathedral’s Veterans and Military Advisory Council offers the morning keynote. RADM Kibben was in the Capitol on January 6th to support members of Congress evacuating the House Chamber.
The Rev. Dr. Rita Brock and the Rev. Canon Kelly Brown Douglas co-moderate the conference. Featured speakers working on moral injury recovery will share what they currently know and discuss what they can learn from each other. Together, this group will assess what can be done to help a diverse country address moral injury in the context of the events of the past two years.
