The Rev. Canon Michele Hagans retired as Diocesan Canon for Ministry Initiatives on November 1. Michele served the Episcopal Diocese of Washington in this capacity for over a decade, offering her professional expertise to congregations undertaking construction or real estate projects, assisting the diocese in stewarding the properties entrusted to us, providing invaluable counsel to congregational and diocesan leaders, and mentoring and supporting countless lay and clergy leaders. While she has officially retired, we are grateful that Michele remains among us as a colleague and friend.

In addition to her ministry in the diocese, Michele is a civic and educational leader, freely sharing her talents with organizations throughout our region and beyond. She is a generous philanthropist, investing in the institutions and causes that she believes embody gospel values.

At this service, Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde will install her as Canon Emeritus of the Diocese of Washington.
