Public Dedication of the Now and Forever Windows
We’re thrilled to have you join us for the unveiling and dedication of the new Now and Forever windows by acclaimed artist Kerry James Marshall, and the inaugural reading of the poem American Song by Elizabeth Alexander.
The new windows and poetry grew out of a decision in 2017 to permanently remove windows that honored Confederate Generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson. Through this new addition to the Cathedral, we hope to tell a broader, more inclusive story of American history. We want to be a place where everyone sees their story reflected in the Cathedral’s art and iconography, and that means you!
Free and open to the public; no tickets required to attend. Doors open at 10 am.
All are welcome to join the Open House Celebration following the dedication.
