Choral Evensong Honoring Bishop John T. Walker
Join us in-person or online for a special Choral Evensong service commemorating the life and ministry of the Right Reverend John T. Walker, sixth bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington and former dean of Washington National Cathedral. 2025 marks two significant milestones: the 100th anniversary of Bishop Walker’s birth and the 70th anniversary of his ordination.
As leader, pastor, and pioneer, Bishop Walker touched thousands of lives in our diocese, throughout The Episcopal Church, and around the world. Through special music and prayers, this service will be an opportunity to honor his remarkable legacy, celebrate his impact on the church, and give thanks for his ministry. Artifacts, including vestments and correspondence, from Bishop Walker’s time as dean and bishop will be on display before and after the service.
Officiants: The Rt. Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde and The Very Rev. Randolph Marshall Hollerith
Homilist: The Right Rev. Eugene Sutton, XIV Bishop, Episcopal Diocese of Maryland (retired)
This special service will be livestreamed below.
