Our hearts today are with the people of Texas and with the grieving families whose loved ones were swept away by devastating floods.

Let us pray for the first responders and all those who are searching for the lost. Give them strength, dear Lord, and keep them safe.

Let us pray for the families of those who lost their lives, that they may be consoled in their grief and secure in the assurance of God’s love. Give them strength, dear Lord, and keep them close to you.

Let us pray for those who died, that they may be welcomed into the gates of everlasting light. Give them rest, dear Lord, and keep them in your eternal embrace.

And let us pray for all those who will respond in recovery in the coming weeks and months. Give them strength, dear Lord, and keep them in your everlasting arms of love.

Keep watch, dear Lord, with those who work, or watch, or weep this night, and give your angels charge over those who sleep. Tend the sick, Lord Christ; give rest to the weary, bless the dying, soothe the suffering, pity the afflicted, shield the joyous; and all for your love’s sake. Amen. (Book of Common Prayer)
