Cathedral Connects

Throughout the pilgrimage, participants were invited to note each day what they were praising. As we prepare to return home, here is how one pilgrim described it.

A fine rain greeted us on our final day of pilgrimage, but by the time we boarded the bus and arrived in Llangollen the skies began to clear. It was an apt metaphor for much of life. 

“Croseo i St. Asaph! Welcome to St. Asaph!” our guides Myra and Ann greeted us as we embarked on visit to the smallest ancient cathedral in Britain.

On what would have been Bishop John Walker's 100th birthday, Canon Rose Duncan said Walker's life reflected Scriptural lessons on public advocacy rooted in intimate prayer.

After a Saturday of rest and and a Sunday filled with worship — morning Eucharist at St. Deiniol’s in Hawarden and Choral Evensong at Chester Cathedral — Monday morning we were back on the bus to the Llyn peninsula and St. Beuno’s Church in Clynnog Fawr. 

This morning the sun broke through the clouds as our big orange bus emerged from a narrow hawthorn-lined lane into the parking area at Penmon Priory.

Today’s “official” pilgrimage theme was stories of solitude, but a newly enforced ban on buses at our afternoon destination meant the pilgrims got a bit more of a 6th century pilgrimage experience than anticipated.
