First Look: A Service of Prayer for the Nation
We got a sneak peek at Tuesday's Service of Prayer for the Nation, where we will welcome our interfaith and ecumenical partners to pray for guidance in the years ahead.
President Trump and members of his family are expected to join Tuesday’s service, as well as Vice President JD Vance and his family. The Presidential Inaugural Committee and the Cathedral have extended invitation to government and community leaders for this year’s service, a tradition that stretches back to 1933 and the inauguration of Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
Among the invited participating clergy are:

Hymns include “For the Healing of the Nations,” “The Star-Spangled Banner,” “God of Our Fathers,” “America the Beautiful” and “Great is Thy Faithfulness.”
The service will feature calls to prayer in the Jewish, Christian and Muslim traditions, and the service will be led by Washington Episcopal Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde, Cathedral Dean Randy Hollerith and Bishop Ann Ritonia, the Episcopal Church’s Suffragan Bishop for Armed Forces and Federal Ministries. Bishop Budde will preach the sermon.
Due to security concerns, the service is not open to the general public, but your’e invited to join the livestream, with a musical prelude starting at 10 am ET and the service itself starting at 11 am ET.
