Coming Attractions: Celebrating the Artistry of Rowan LeCompte

Next year marks the 100th birthday of stained-glass master Rowan LeCompte, and we have an early look at an upcoming documentary film that celebrates his Cathedral masterpiece.

Filmmaker Peter Swanson, who probably knows as much or more about LeCompte as anyone out there, is hard at work on his upcoming documentary, “The Creation Rose,” which is scheduled for release in Spring 2025.

Over several decades at the Cathedral, LeCompte designed nearly 50 stained-glass windows, including the beloved “Creation” rose window at the Cathedral’s west end. This clip starts with LeCompte’s first Cathedral window, of St. Dunstan, which he designed when he was just 16 years old.

Peter’s spectacular drone footage allows viewers to get closer to the rose window than you ever thought possible. Watch this space for more updates!
