A Closer Look Inside The Saint John’s Bible
Earlier this year the Cathedral was honored to receive a copy of the hand-scribed Saint John's Bible, and now PBS takes a closer look at its history and artistry.
The PBS NewsHour was on hand in London for the dedication of The Saint John’s Bible Apostles Edition — the same version that was gifted to the Cathedral just days earlier.
Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby received and blessed the copy, one of 12 that is being produced for sites around the world, including here at the Cathedral, the Library of Congress and the Vatican.
The Apostles Edition is a limited-edition replica of the original Saint John’s Bible, which is housed at Saint John’s Abbey in Collegeville, Minn. It’s the first hand-written and illuminated manuscript of the Bible to be produced in more than 500 years.
The Cathedral plans to use The Saint John’s Bible for the first time for Christmas Eve services.
