Cathedral to Host ‘Blessing of the Bikes’ As Part of the Annual Rolling to Remember

WASHINGTON – For the tenth time, Washington National Cathedral will welcome riders participating in Rolling to Remember and the general public to a “Blessing of the Bikes,” a brief prayer service on the Cathedral’s West Front, on Friday (May 24).

Cathedral clergy, military chaplains and Rolling to Remember volunteers and leaders lead the service, which will start at 5 p.m. ET. Participants are invited to park their motorcycles in front of the cathedral to have them blessed as part of the service. 

The Blessing of the Bikes is a Cathedral tradition held in partnership with AMVETS’s Rolling to Remember, a motorcycle demonstration in honor of U.S. veterans. The prayer service honors missing service members as well as veterans who die by suicide each day. The event is meant to raise awareness of the critical issues facing American veterans.

Since its earliest days more than a century ago, the Cathedral has sought to honor veterans and military families – particularly those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for their nation.

The outdoor prayer service will be open to the public for in-person attendance. The event is also free and registration is not required. Media is welcome to attend in-person and should contact Ari Geller for details.
