Erin Hanke became the Director of Music Operations at the Cathedral in 2023, where she provides high-level administrative support to the Director of Music and serve as a project manager for all music-related programs across the Cathedral. 

As a critical member of the Cathedral’s music program, Erin supervises numerous employees, oversees the Music Department’s annual budget and works closely with the Director of Music and Cathedral’s Chief of Staff and Chief Operating Officer to build annual strategic plans to amplify the Cathedral’s core values of excellence and effective stewardship in music. 

She is the department’s chief liaison to its roster of 90+ musicians, and manages the Cathedral’s music librarian and contracted Concerns & Production Manager. In her role, she assists in planning the Cathedral’s concert season, music marketing campaigns and development needs.

Prior to joining the Cathedral, she worked as the Manager of Special Events and Development Communications at LifeBridge Health in Baltimore, Md., and the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, Wash. She also served as the Managing Director of the Campus Commons at the University of Northern Colorado and the Director of the Whitney Center for the Arts at Sheridan College.

She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a double major in math and art history; from Mannes College with a Master of Music degree; and from Stony Brook University with a Doctor of Musical Arts. She regularly serves as a church musician and substitute organist for churches in the Washington area.
