Charlotte S. Atkinson
Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer
Charlotte S. Atkinson is a CPA in Virginia and DC, and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales. She is responsible for the accurate maintenance of the Cathedral’s financial books and records, and timely preparation, analysis and presentation of financial reports to the Cathedral Chapter and Protestant Episcopal Cathedral Foundation (PECF) Board of Trustees.
She also provides oversight of and guidance to the Facilities & Preservation department, in particular with respect to management of the capital budget, and is also responsible for the IT, HR and Archives departments. She sits on the PECF Operations Committee, acting as liaison for the Cathedral on all close-wide matters.
Ms. Atkinson joined the Cathedral from BDO. As a Managing Director in their Business Services and Outsourcing group, she assisted non-profit and commercial clients around the world with their finance and accounting needs. Prior to that, she held the CFO position at the Nuclear Threat Initiative, a high profile non-profit founded by businessman and philanthropist Ted Turner and former Sen. Sam Nunn to reduce the risk of use and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
She spent her early career as an auditor with Deloitte in London, and Washington DC, receiving two awards for outstanding performance. She holds a Master’s degree in International Studies, and a Bachelor’s degree in Physics.
