Bob Shorb recently retired from a 35+ year career in the commercial real estate business.  He worked for the Oliver Carr Company from 1984 to 1997, where he oversaw the development aspects of many of the firm’s more significant historic renovation projects including the Willard Hotel, the Southern Railway Building, and the Commercial National Bank Building.

In 1997, he joined Host Hotels & Resorts as a Senior Vice President of Development, Design, and Construction.  He retired in 2015, having spent the better part of two decades working on innumerable hotel development projects including new construction, significant renovations/repositionings, and complex land entitlement/rezoning cases.

 A 1975 graduate of St. Albans School, Bob also holds degrees from Brown University and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He played a pivotal role in planning and implementing Beauvior’s extensive renovations in the late 1990’s and served two terms on Beauvoir’s Board of Trustees.  He subsequently served two terms on NCS’s Board of Trustees and is a member of the Headmaster’s Counselor’s at St. Albans.

Bob resides in Chevy Chase with his wife, Liz Lavette Shorb, an associate broker with Washington Fine Properties.  Their three children, Hank, Charlie, and Murphy, all attended Beauvoir; Hank graduated from St. Albans in 2011 and Murphy from NCS in 2017.
