Exciting news! As a founding partner of America 250, the Cathedral is thrilled to announce the launch of #AmericaGives!

America Gives empowers individuals to shape the future of our country through charitable giving, volunteerism, and public service – including military service, ensuring the spirit of service thrives for generations to come.

As Dean Randy Hollerith put it, “Every American religious tradition calls us to generosity in serving our neighbor through acts of kindness. There’s no better birthday present we can give to America than to give back to our fellow Americans who are most in need.”

Our nation’s history is steeped in a tradition of service, from Benjamin Franklin’s first volunteer fire brigade to the creation of impactful organizations like the Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, Blue Star Families, Points of Light and more. America Gives ties into this tradition, highlighting the two federally-recognized days of service: the National Day of Service and Remembrance on September 11th, and Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in January.

Our goal is to make 2026 the largest year of service in history—and to continue to build upon this history in the years to follow so that giving becomes a way of life for all Americans. Discover the ways you can get involved and make a difference by signing up here .

We’ll have more to share about how you can get involved — watch this space!
