The PBS News Hour spent some time with Brianna Castelli, our newest (and likely the first female) stone mason here at the Cathedral.

The piece, produced by Bella Major of the PBS Student Reporting Labs, follows Brianna as she works her way around the building, and takes a look at the upcoming installation of stone tablets that bear Elizabeth Alexander’s “American Song” poem.

“It is a beautiful limestone building, but it’s not necessarily avoiding the past,” Brianna said, “but, like, just getting better from it, which is — it’s really neat to be a part of.”
