Cathedral Prays in Response to the Shooting at the Trump Rally in Pennsylvania:
WASHINGTON — The Right Rev. Marianne Edgar Budde, Episcopal Bishop of the Diocese of Washington, and The Very Rev. Randolph Marshall Hollerith, Dean of Washington National Cathedral, offered the following prayer following today’s shooting at a rally held by former President Donald Trump, who was injured in the shooting.
The Cathedral is also keeping in its prayers the families of the individuals who were killed as well as others who were injured.
“God of all mercies, we pray for the health and well-being of former President Trump. Keep him safe, protect the innocent, comfort those who mourn and those who were injured, and guard all those who serve our nation, including the brave members of the Secret Service.
We ask you, Holy One, to turn our hearts from senseless violence and lead us in the ways of peace. Help us to find a better way to live together in your beloved community. In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.”
