Alumni, faculty, and staff of National Cathedral School for Girls and St. Albans School for Boys joined the Cathedral’s family and friends on Wednesday, October 2, for a service of Choral Evensong in the great choir to honor the tenth anniversary of Canon Michael McCarthy’s arrival on the Cathedral’s staff as director of music. A highlight of the service was the Combined Cathedral Choir of Men, Boys, and Girls’ performance of the anthem “I Was Glad” by English composer Charles Hubert Hastings Perry (1848–1918), a grand setting of Psalm 122 that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had chosen as the processional for their “royal wedding” at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011.
