In the past week or two many of us have felt lost and in a dark dark place. I was reminded of how the apostles and other followers of Jesus must have felt after the crucifixion. Where was their hope in those hours until resurrection morning? How did they find comfort? But we have that knowledge of the resurrection, we know that God has never deserted us. In this week’s reading from the prophet Jeremiah we are reminded also that the Lord will gather up the remnant of his flock and he will bring them back to the fold and “they shall not fear any longer, or be dismayed.”
So, while I look ahead to ways that I can alleviate the darkness around me through social action, I will rely on the Lord and his promises to us and that shall comfort me and strengthen me.
