Washington National Cathedral: A Sacred Stop on the Walk for Peace
WASHINGTON, DC — Washington National Cathedral will welcome the Buddhist monks as part of the final days of their 2,300-mile Walk for Peace, a journey rooted in prayer, reflection, and nonviolence. This sacred stop will include an interfaith welcome at the West Front of the Cathedral followed by moments of reflection and prayer, inviting the public to gather in a shared expression of peace, gratitude, and hope.
The public is invited to join the gathering outdoors on the Cathedral’s West Lawn as the Walk for Peace continues toward the National Mall.
Following the outside welcome and prayers, at approximately 1:30 pm, the Monks will gather with interfaith leaders inside the Cathedral. The inside gathering is closed to in-person attendance. This portion is open to credentialed media by RSVP and will be livestreamed on the Cathedral’s YouTube channel.
All media wishing to cover the event must request press credentials from the Cathedral in advance by completing the credential request form. Both inside and outside credentials are available. Credential requests are due by Friday, February 6, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. ET. Determinations will be communicated by Monday, February 9, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. ET.
